SC refuses to scrap Pratyusha boyfriend’s bail
The Supreme Co urt on Monday refused to can cel actor-pro ducer Rahul Raj Singh’s an ticipatory bail in his girlfriend Pratyusha Banerjee’s suicide case and dismissed a plea filed by her parents for his custodial interrogation.
A bench of Justice P C Ghose and Justice Amitava Roy said that there was no evidence against Rahul which would justify his custodial interrogation and it would not be proper to interfere with a Bombay HC’s order, granting him anticipatory bail.
“There is no suicide note and the last conversation between them showed that they were in love. The high court passed the order after hearing the conversation. We cannot interfere with the HC order unless there is a persuasive ground,“ the bench said.
The HC on April 25 granted anticipatory bail to Rahul, accused of abetting Pratyusha’s suicide. On April 1, Pratyusha, who played Anandi in the TV series `Balika Vadhu’, allegedly committed suicide inside her flat in Goregaon.
