The Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections is won by the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Student Wing Akhila Bharata Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). The winning of ABVP gave a major set back to Aam Aadmi Party by claiming all the four seats in the elections.
The contestants in the elections were ABVP, NSUI (National Students’ Union of India) and Aam Aadmi Party’s student wing Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti.
More than 43 percent students had cast their votes for the DUSU polls from the morning. The polls were carried out very peacefully and successfully though several clashes have been witness during campaigning. The parties this time used social media like Facebook, Whatsapp and twitter widely as a medium for campaigning to reach the mass by posting party manifesto, speaking to the voters, recruiting volunteers and to personally connect with the students.
