A female leopard, who is suspected to have attacked several tribal farmers and killed livestock in Talasari taluka in Palghar district last month, was finally trapped on Tuesday .
The Dahanu forest department has asked residents of Aamgaon, Dongri and Zari villages to be cautious as a male leopard and her cubs are feared to be in the vicinity.
The female leopard walked into the cage around 11.30am. The trapped leopard will be sent to Sanjay Gandhi National Park, where she will be examined by a medical team and treated, if necessary, said a forest official from the Dahanu forest range.
The forest department set up the cage in the jungles of Aamgaon on August 31, a day after the big cat attacked a tribal farmer and a woman in the span of a few hours. On August 15, the leopard also attacked another farmer from Aamgaon village.
