AIDS deaths drop 55% in India in 8 yrs
There has been a 55% decl ine in deaths caused by AIDS in the country since 2007, reports Sushmi Dey.
While 1,48,309 died of AIDS in 2007, the figure fell to 67,600 in 2015, acccording to statistics presented by health minister J P Nadda at a UN meet in New York. New HIV infections have dropped 66% since 2000–from 2.51 lakh to 86,000–better than the global fall of 35%. Seeking aid from global health agencies, Nadda said, “We can’t afford to give the epidemic a chance to rebound.“
No Google Street View in India
Citing security, the Centre has rejected Google’s plans to cover Indian cities, tourist hubs, etc via Google Street View. Delhi is wary of allowing image-capturing given that 2611 involved photographic recces of targets.
