Ajmer: The state government has reduced the admission age in Class I from six to five years.This decision will help lakhs of students to sit in competitive exams. The minimum age to get admission in Central schools is already five years.
Till now, the admission age in Class I was six years and all government and private schools demand birth certificates from parents at the time of admission and the age of student should not be less than six years.
“In Right to Education Act, 2009, the minimum age to get admission in Class I was increased to six years but minimum age to get admission in CBSE schools kept five years,“ said Vasudev Devnani, state education minister.
Devnani added that students who want to take admission in Rashtriya Military School and Saink School in Class VI have to suffer because the minimum age to get admission in these schools is 10 and maximum is 11 years.“Students studying in government schools suffered a year loss with this and therefore looking to such problem the state government has reduce the minimum admission age from six to five years,“ added Devanani.
