Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday allowed citizens to pay Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes to pay their electricity bill, water bill, property tax till November 11.
After the CM tweeted his decision in the afternoon, officials from the state-run MSEDCL said they will allow consumers to make payments with Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, irrespective of bill amount. “The payment can be made by Friday midnight,” a senior official said. “We have made arrangements for officials to collect bills till late at night and ensure citizens get the maximum benefit of spending Rs 500 or Rs 1000 notes for bill payments. The amount will be against pending dues only,” he stated. MSEDCL supplies power to consumers in parts of the eastern suburbs, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan and the rest of state. MSEDCL officials added consumers whose bill due date or prompt payment date is between November 9-14 can now pay their bills till November 15. Cash collection counters of MSEDCL will work on holidays.
