Stung by a recent poll survey that showed her party well behind BJP in case UP assembly elections are held as on date, BSP chief Mayawati on Thursday said that such poll surveys were manipulated to suit the interests of a few big business houses.
Presiding over a review meeting at party headquarters in Lucknow, Mayawati cautioned her cadre not to get demoralised by such surveys that projected BSP in a poor light. “We are forming the next government in UP ,“ Mayawati said. Directing her party workers to launch a full-fledged campaign in all assembly constituencies, Mayawati said that it was high time Dalits, OBC and Muslims be consolidated behind party to ensure its win in the UP assembly elections due in few months.
Mayawati said that the opposition parties, especially the BJP , SP and the Congress, were `experts’ in creating differences between people of various castes and reli gion. “Party workers should, therefore, be cautious of the opposi tion, and at the time ex pedite the work of wide ning the voter base,“ she said.
Sources said that Mayawati also directed the party workers to start a drive for getting more and more voters registered and their voter cards made. She also asked the party leaders to expedite the sector and booth level committee meetings and their respective coordination with the district and zonal co ordinators.
