The Samajwadi Party (SP) plans to field 113 to 115 candidates for the BMC polls slated to be held early next year. Also, it will fight the election alone.
The party’s state unit chief Abu Asim Azmi, who is also a legislator, said on Tuesday that they will not ally with any party .“Before the last assembly poll, we forged a brief alliance with the Congress, but it broke… We felt cheated,“ said Azmi. We will fight the upcoming civic poll from 113 to 115 seats and won’t ally with anyone.“
Currently , the party has nine corporators in the BMC.
Stating that the MIM is no threat to its vote bank, Azmi said that his traditional supporters would not elect a “communal“ party like MIM.
