The city received around 33mm of rainfall in around 18 hours on Sunday as it poured incessantly through the day . The weather in the city is likely to improve on Monday afternoon when the low pressure over Bangladesh and south Bengal, which caused the downpour, is predicted to move towards Bihar and Jharkhand. Though it rained without any break, the intensity was not too high. As a result, most streets in Kolkata remained free of waterlogging. But a high tide of 6.13m, coupled with the showers, raised the Hooghly water level, flooding a few areas in Howrah.
