NEET in city: CBSE students find test easy
The first phase of single-en trance test NEET for medical admissions saw a good turnout, amidst two incidents of protests, at 39 centres in the city on Sunday . Around 26,000 students took the test for the more than 5,000 seats in medical colleges in Tamil Nadu, including private deemed universities, after Supreme Court made the exam mandatory for all medical admissions. While CBSE students found the test easy , state board students found it tough. Members of some parents and doctors associations staged a protest in front of the directorate of medical education office demanding counselling model of medical admission.
Guj issues 10% quota ordinance
The Gujarat government on Sunday marked the 56th anniversary of the state’s formation by issue of an ordinance to implement a separate 10% quota for economically backward classes in higher education and public services.

The Food Corporation of India has allowed 46,658 tonnes of foodgrains to rot in its 1,889 warehouses across the country in three years -enough to feed nearly 8 lakh people under the National Food Security Act for an entire year.
