West Raj town hits 50.5°C, Delhi sizzles
Temperature records fell as heat scorched north India on Wednesday . Phalodi, a town off the BikanerJaisalmer highway in west Rajasthan, was ground zero of the severe heat wave blowing across the region, recording a scalding 50.5°C.It was the season’s hottest day in New Delhi’s Palam station as well, with the mercury shooting up to 46.4°C.The Met has issued a `red’ alert, the highest heat warning, across the region.
AMPAI entrance exam on June 5
The Association of Minority Professional Academic Institutes (AMPAI), which conducts entrance examination for minorities owned institutions, will conduct its entrance examination on June 5.
The association has made online application available till June 2 and offline application will be available till May 31. Overall the entrance will be conducted over 18 centres across India including West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam, Tripura and Meghalaya.
The board was formed three years ago to meet the needs of students from minority classes like Sikhs and Christians. This association has six colleges in India under its purview and offers courses like B.Tech, B.Pharm, MBA, MCA.
According to the rule, 50% of the seats will be reserved for the minority students and the rest of the seats will be provided to the most deserving candidates.
Convenor of CEE-AMPAI, Bidyut Majumder said, “Last year around 4000 minority students took the examinations. This year our target is 8000 students.“
