Apple: US tech giant Apple Inc said that it had removed a few applications from its App Store. The reason behind this as cited by the company is its concern for security.
The company said that it has taken the step as it is worried that the personal data of some the users could be at risk in certain situations.
According to the company, the apps threatened users’ security by installing certificates which can expose data to monitoring by third parties. However, the precise number of the apps facing the issue.
“Apple is deeply committed to protecting customer privacy and security,” an Apple spokeswoman said in a statement. “We are working closely with these developers to quickly get their apps back on the App Store, while ensuring customer privacy and security is not at risk.”
Been Choice is one of the apps which has been removed. This app became popular as it was able to block advertising in apps. An Apple spokeswoman said that a support page would be released by the company which help users in removing the applications in question from their devices.
