IMD warns of heavy rains in State
Rain or thundershower may occur at most of the places over Assam and Meghalaya during the next 48 hours, since 8.30 am today, under the impact of a cyclonic circulation, which is lying over East Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Bihar and its neighbourhood, extending up to 0.9 km above the mean sea level.
Disclosing this, sources in the Borjhar-based Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) of the India Meteorology Department (IMD) here said this afternoon that heavy to very heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places over Assam-Meghalaya Meteorological Subdivision on May 18 and 19 and over the Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura Meteorological Subdivision on May 21 and 22.
Heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places over the Assam-Meghalaya Meteorological Subdivision on May 20 and at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh on May 18 and 19.
However, intensity and frequency of the rainfall activities over the Assam-Meghalaya Meteorological Subdivision and the Arunachal Pradesh Meteorological Subdivision are expected to decrease after 48 hours, sources said.
