PWD Minister Parimal Suklabaidya paid rich tributes to the Late leader and flagged off the ‘Run for Unity’ event. The day was celebrated as ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ (National Unity Day).
The event, organised by the Cachar district administration saw the presence of Deputy Speaker of the Assam Assembly Dilip Kumar Paul, MLAs of Sonai, Borkhola, Katigorah and Udharbond together with Cachar Deputy Commissioner S Vishwanathan, Additional Superintendent of Police (Cachar) Jagadish Das, ADCs and staff from different departments of the district administration, a large number of school students and members from different NGOs.
Addressing the gathering before flagging off the rally, the PWD Minister recollected the contributions of Sardar Patel and urged the people to follow the ideals of the great leader.
“This day is being celebrated nationwide to spread the message of unity and brotherhood among the countrymen. Sardar Patel pioneered the process of make India united and we must never forget his contributions,” Suklabaidya said.
