Reiterating the State Government’s commitment to stand with the people in their times of need, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today said that the State health sector was going through a massive transformation and people’s health needs would be taken care of by the Health Department on a war footing.
Speaking at the cheque distribution function of Assam Arogya Nidhi to beneficiaries under the National Health Mission at GMCH auditorium, he said all pending Arogya Nidhi applications have been cleared. In February next, a similar function will be held and cheques distributed among all eligible beneficiaries.
A total of 1,978 beneficiaries were given Assam Arogya Nidhi cheques for life-threatening ailments such as cancer, kidney diseases, heart ailments, etc, with the objective of giving a helping hand in their fight against the diseases. Of these 1,978 beneficiaries, 1,548 were cancer patients, 79 kidney disease patients, 154 had heart ailments and the rest 197 comprised patients suffering from other diseases.
