Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu today said that the construction work on the tallest railway bridge in the world has already started in Manipur and is being targeted to be completed by March 2018.
Prabhu was speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of Tupul station building, safety tunnel of longest tunnel number 12 and commencement of work at portal number 2 at 1st Manipur Rifles Parade Ground here on Saturday.
Stating that providing railway connectivity to North East is a commitment, Prabhu also said that infrastructure creation in the North East is being ensured with the provision of more budget allocation for NE. Saying that NE has immense potential for tourism which can generate large number of jobs, a Comprehensive Tourism Plan for the region is being worked out.
