CM for making RTI an effective tool
Assam Chief Information Commissioner HS Das (R) delivering his inaugural address at the daylong regional workshop on Right to Information Act-2005, in Guwahati on Wednesday. – UNI GUWAHATI, Oct 7 – Right to Information can be made an effective tool by ensuring that the voices of the deprived and marginalised sections of the society are heard loud and clear, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said today.
Speaking during the inauguration of the one-day regional workshop on the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005 at the Assam Administrative Staff College at Khanapara, Gogoi said, “Access to Right to Information must be ensured to the deprived and marginalised segments of the society and the muted voices must be heard loud and clear.”
The Chief Minister said that Assam was one of the pioneer States which introduced the Right to Information by a separate State Act in 2002. Gogoi said that protection must be accorded to public servants who work with good intention.
