The All-India Federation of University and College Teachers Organization will observe mass casual leave on October 5 across India. The teachers are protesting against “the negative and undemocratic aspects“ of the new education policy .
They are demanding early and teacher-friendly Seventh Pay Commission report. Other demands include scrapping of the API system, filling up of vacant posts on permanent basis and parity for librarians and physical education teachers. “It is unfortunate that about 2 lakh ad hoc teachers, guest lecturers, teachers in self-financing courses in universities and colleges are paid merely Rs 5000-15000 per month without any service security,“ said a press note.
