The state planning department has issued showcause notice to its employees who were absent on September 2 -the day of the all-India strike called by 14 workers’ organisations and federations across the country .
The notice issued against 12 staffers of the department asked them to explain why action will not be taken against him her for unauthorized absence on the day in question. These employees are told to respond within three days after receiving the letter or else disciplinary action will be initiated against them.
The state finance department had on August 26 issued a memorandum, warning anyone who remains absent on account of the strike will be showcaused. “It has also been decided no leave shall be granted to any employee on the bandh day , the day prior to it (September 1), and on the next working day (September 5),“ the memorandum had stated.
