Don’t be surprised if your next cooking gas refill comes with a `thank you’ note from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, if you are among those who have voluntarily given up LPG subsidy .“My happiness in writing you this letter matches perhaps your surprise on receiving it. I am writing to thank and congratulate you,“ Modi says in the letter, each addressing the consumer who has surrendered subsidy by name.
The letter, written in Hindi without a date, is laminated on a board with wooden veneer in a size that allows it to be either hung on the wall or displayed on a mantelpiece .
State-run fuel retailers have already started despatching the letters through their LPG dealers.
So far, over 1.43 crore consumers have voluntarily given up cooking gas subsidy in response to the call Prime Minister Modi gave to people on March 27, 2015 while inaugurating `Urja Sangam’, a global energy meet, in Delhi.
