The Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (Hidco) will hold an e-auction process by this year-end to allot a 10-acre plot at Action Area-II in New Town on a 99-year lease to set up a private medical college and hospital.
The plot, opposite the upcoming International Convention Centre, was earmarked by Hidco to be used for educational and institutional purpose. As per the decision taken by the authorities before the plot is handed over, the medical college should have the capacity to admit 150 MBBS students per year and the hospital should have at least 650 beds. Any public charitable trust or non-profit society registered under the Societies Act or a non-profit company can apply and set up the hospital following Medical Council of India (MCI) guidelines, Hidco officials said. The auction was earlier scheduled to take place just before Durga Puja but has been now deferred to November.
The Hidco authorities had earlier floated expression of interest for the said plot a few years ago but the auction process was cancelled as not enough number of bidders were found.Officials said there should be at least three eligible bidders for the e-auction process to take place or else the process would be cancelled.
