Jadavpur University (JU), for the second year in a row, has topped the list of Indian state-run universities in the prestigious Times Higher Education World University Ranking, while Calcutta University (CU) has improved its showing from last year.
The rankings aren’t absolute, but are in the form of a range. JU’s rank is in the 501600 bracket, the same as last year. CU is also in the same bracket as last year -601-800 -but the university has scored better in terms of the parameters that are factored in while arriving at a rank, so it’s safe to say its ranking has gone up some notches.
According to this year’s rankings, released recently , CU is India’s second-best state-run university .
Topping the India list is IISC Bangalore, in the 201-250 rank bracket, up several ranks from last year.
