The state government is set to boost IT and IT-enabled service industries in the state and to encourage entrepreneurs it will soon run a helpline. This step is designed to bring in more investments in the IT sector, to make more youths employable in the IT sector.

Webel, as the state government’s nodal agency , will run the helpline through a call centre to address queries, offer assistance and provide essential information to the entrepreneurs. Those calling this helpline number will receive an SMS with an identity number for future use. A senior IT depart ment official said the aim is to encourage entrepreneurs and bring in new business in the IT sector. Webel will provide key information on the range of incentives and schemes for setting up and operating IT and electronics business in the state along with various IT Parks.

Moreover, latest procedures of setting IT business and how IT incentives can be availed will be informed through this helpline. “The helpline will provide information about the West Bengal ICT incentive scheme for IT ITes projects of large, medium, small and micro units,“ the official said.
