BCCI President Jagmohan Dalmiya Hospitalised After Chest Pain

Late on Thursday night, Jagmohan Dalmiya, BCCI president was rushed to the BM Birla Heart Research Institute after suffering heart attack.


The veteran cricket administrator who is 75-year-old has been physically indisposed for some time with lot of ailments and even not able to take part in any of the BCCI’s day to day activities.

“Jagmohan Dalmiya was today admitted to the BM Birla Hospital after 9 pm after he was brought here with complaints of chest pain. A medical team has been assigned and they are monitoring his health,” a hospital source said.

The report suggests that BCCI president might have suffered a cardiac attack due to which he needed to be admitted to the hospital.

His son Abhishek Dalmiya during the time of hospitalisation is learnt to have accompanied. Sourav Ganguly, former India captain also rushed from his Behala residence while Arup Biswas, minister in-charge of sports (West Bengal) also rushed to the hospital.

After he was appointed as BCCI president’s post in March 2015 his health has been an issue was an open secret in the Indian cricket circle for quite some time.

It has been BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur who is calling the shots due to Dalmiya’s health conditions.

Dalmiya has not been able for quite some time unable to properly conduct any BCCI meetings in the near past.

Dalmiya, in fact, could not answer coherently  any queries when he met the three-member SC-appointed panel headed by RM Lodha, Justice.
