Charge-sheet Against MK Meena: A charge-sheet has been issued against ACB chief MK Meena by Delhi Govt on Tuesday
Anti Corruption Bureau joint commissioner of police Mukesh Kumar Meena has been charge-sheeted by Delhi Govt on Tuesday in connection with the CNG scam.
The charge sheet was issued to Meena to the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) in the ongoing investigation of CNG fitness scam which was amounted to 100 crores. Apart from Meena other top officials of then CM of Delhi Sheila Dixit were also under scanner.
The Delhi government has formed a commission of inquiry in order to investigate the multi-crore CNG fitness scam earlier. Justice Agarwal Commission was constituted by AAP led Delhi Government.
On September 3 the SN Agarwal Inquiry Commission issued summons to Meena for passing an order asking the ACB not to share any information with it or any of its representatives.
CNG fitness scam case of 2002 was reopened by ACB in 2012, in which some top officers including Shiela Dixit were accused of extending favours to a few companies issuing fitness certificates to CNG vehicles running into Rs.100 crore, but the investigation didn’t go well as the Aam Aadmi Party Government resigned after a 49-days of its power.
The Delhi Govt also issued directions for execution of a non-bailable warrant against Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) joint commissioner of police Mukesh Kumar Meena.
Meena was appointed by Najeeb Jung to conduct a parallel probe into the scam after declaring the Justice Agarwal Commission invalid on the union home ministry’s directions.
Meanwhile the Commission of Inquiry slammed the centre for interfering in the investigation of the CNG scam saying that when the home ministry and the lieutenant governor failed to secure a stay order from court on the working of the Commission of Inquiry, the Ministry of Home Affairs on its own declared the notification illegal.
RTI activist Vivek Garg has brought the CNG scam into light who alleged that the contract for conducting lane test of commercial vehicles before granting fitness certificates was granted to ESP India without inviting any tender in 2002
