Preparations for Madaraka day celebrations in top gear
Contractors are working round the clock to ensure renovation work at Nakuru’s Afraha Stadium is ready for this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations next Wednesday.
Nakuru has been selected as the first county to host national celebrations following President Uhuru Kenyatta’s decision to decentralise national events.
Governor Kinuthia Mbugua assured the National government that the stadium, the venue for the celebrations, will be ready to host the President and his guests.
He said Nakuru residents were honoured to host the first-ever national event outside Nairobi since independence. He spoke during an inspection tour of the stadium and military parade presided over by Chief of Defence Forces Samson Mwathethe.
The governor said three county engineers were supervising the rehabilitation work at the stadium.
