The ruling party on Tuesday sought intervention of President Pranab Mukherjee accusing the NDA government of halting the development of tribals by not releasing funds.
Thousands of tribals led by party’s MPs and MLAs from the community staged demonstration outside the Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum to governor S C Jamir addressed to the President. “Seven months have already been passed, but the ministry of tribal affairs (MoTA) has not given approval for utilizing funds under different programmes like special central assistance, tribal sub-plan and conservation-cum-development plan,” said ST and SC development minister Lal Bihari Himirika.
He said the Centre has not releases funds despite the state government having already submitted utilization certificates for 2014-15 and fund allocation certificate for 2015-16.
Oram rubbished the charges and accused the BJD of doing politics over the issue.
