The state government on Friday offered helicopter and additional security to Reserve Bank of India (Bhubaneswar) for transportation of cash to remote parts of the state.
“The helicopter is ready. The state government would also provide fuel support in interest of the people. RBI can utilize the helicopter for transportation of cash to remote areas,” said chief secretary A P Padhi after reviewing the situation here.
People in interior parts of Odisha bear the brunt due to the demonetization move. The state government also offered panchayats to use as banks for exchange of old denominations as around 4400 gram panchayats don’t have banks.
Briefing about the situation in Odisha, RBI (Bhubaneswar) general manager S P Mohanty said the situation in Odisha is better than many other states. The SBI authorities, attended the meeting, also reported that queues and rush in the banks and ATMs have been reduced and in many places banks have started normal functioning.
