As many as 326 IIT aspirants have accepted their allotted seats in IIT Madras in the first round of seat acceptance on Tuesday .
Totally, 838 seats are up for grabs in the allocation round. The first round was conducted between July 1 and 5. Following the choice filling and seat allocation, candidates get three options during the allotment rounds to either `freeze,’ `float,’ or `slide’ their choices.
Freeze means students have accepted the seat allotted and will not be considered for subsequent allocation rounds. If they want to opt for another seat at any other institute, they can choose the `float’ option and will be considered for the upcoming seat allocation rounds. If students are not satisfied and want a higher preference in the same institute, they can opt for the `slide’ option. The second round of acceptance is expected to take place from July 7 to 11.
