Light rain today, hotter week ahead
The city is likely to witness light rainfall on Monday but the rest of the week may experience dry weather with hotter days, predict weathermen.
Brief showers lasting a few minutes greeted many parts of the city including Vadapalani, Chintadripet, Anna Nagar, Adyar and the Marina on Sunday evening.
Skymet chief meteorologist Mahesh Palawat said, “The trough over north Tamil Nadu that brought rainfall on Sunday is weakening and likely to last only until Monday.“
The temperature plummeted by about eight degrees from 35 to 27 degrees Celsius before the onset of the showers around 6pm.The maximum temperature on Sunday was 37.4 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature was 29.2 degrees Celsius.
The maximum temperature has gone up by a few degrees since last week and is likely to remain high.
