Pandian Express to get spacious LHB coaches from Aug 15
Travelling to Madurai is going to be a comfortable experience on Pandian Express from August 16 as Southern Railway will introduce new LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches. The train from Madurai will have the new rake from August 15.
The train will have one first class AC, three AC 2-tier, four AC 3-tier, 10 sleeper class, and two general second class coaches, officials said.
LHB coaches have more berths, are spacious, safe, and offer better riding comfort than conventional ICF rakes.
The train now has 24 coaches. As LHB coaches have more berths, the revised composition will be of 20 coaches.Besides, Shatabdi, Double Decker and ChennaiMangalore Express, Pandian will be the other train in Southern Railway to get LHB coaches.
The announcement has been received with great enthusiasm by passengers for whom Pandian Express is a preferred trains. “It is heartening to note that railways has finally decided to allot LHB coaches to Pandian Express.We have booked tickets by the train for a family trip in October and we are thrilled we will be travelling in the new coaches,“ said M Gnanapandithan, a regular traveller.
Railways was planning to introduce LHB coaches for Delhi trains like Tamil Nadu Express and Grand Trunk Express initially because the trains connect Chennai with the national capital and earn good revenue. But the rake which was brought to Chennai was introduced on the Mangalore train.
