Train passengers in Tamil Nadu are in for a pleasant surprise as the state will soon get three newly introduced categories of trains -Humsafar, Antyodaya and Uday Express.
In an internal communication, the Railway Board has announced that they will operate a Sriganganagar-Tiruchirapalli and Chennai-Ahmedabad Humsafar Express, Santagrachi-Chennai Antyodaya Express and Coimbatore-Bangalore Uday Express.
The trains will be notified in the new timetable on October 1 but their starting date will be announced later, railway sources said.
Humsafar Express is an all-3AC coach train for intercity overnight journey which will have additional facilities, not available in normal 3AC coaches, like CCTV , GPS-based information system, fire and smoke detection system and charging points for every berth. With improved aesthetics inside coaches, fare for this train will be 20% pricer than the normal express and mail trains, officials said. Railway minister Suresh Prabhu has envisioned that the train will run at speeds greater than 130 kmph.
While Uday (Utkrisht Double-Decker Air-conditioned Yatri) Express is a special over-night express with double-decker coaches, Antyodaya is a superfast express with all the coaches unreserved.
