Taxi driver returns ring worth Rs 12L to actor Vikram
A call taxi driver on Saturday returned a `12 lakh diamond ring to Kollywood actor Vikram after the actor’s daughter Akshita lost it at an ice-cream parlour on Khader Nawaz Khan Road in Nungambakkam on Tuesday.
The driver, Lakshmanan, said he found the ring on the road and he preserved it on the dashboard of his car, thinking it was a gemstone.
He told Gandhi Peace Centre coordinator M L Rajesh of this.
Rajesh alerted officials of CavinKare which is owned by the family of Manu Ranjith, Akshita’s fiancee.
After officials of the group confirmed the ring belonged to Akshita, Rajesh and Lakshmanan decided to hand over the ring to Vikram in person.
Later, Vikram’s manager informed the Thousand Lights police of the incident.Lakshmanan is a resident of Edapalayam, near Red Hills.He got the ring from a road near his workplace on August 2.
Police had verified CCTV footage from the parlour which Akshita had visited.
