Actor’s son booked for flying drone without nod
Police have booked Tamil film actor Pandiarajan’s son on charges of flying a drone in Mylapore on Sunday night without obtaining permission.
Premarajan,23, had sought permission to use a drone last year, but it was denied. On Sunday night, a security guard on Bishop Wallace Avenue alerted a police patrolling team about the drone. The team tracked the device and found it was being flown by Premrajan with some of his friends. Policemen seized the drone and found there was no camera in it. “The youths were not filming anything. They were flying it in an open space,“ said an officer.
Since Premarajan did not obtain the required permission, police questioned him for a while and booked him under sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 287 (negligent conduct with respect to machinery) and 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the IPC, said a police officer.
Last year, police had announced that it was mandatory to obtain permission from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the city police for flying drones in the city.
