tn Govt declares 6% hike in DA for pensioners
The Tamil Nadu government has announced a 6% hike in dearness allowance to pensioners and family pensioners payable from January 1.
“Following orders issued by the government of India, the Tamil Nadu government has now decided to sanction one additional instalment of DA at the rate of 6% to pensioners and family pensioners with effect from January 1,“ said a press release issued by expenditure secretary T Udhayachandran on Wednesday night.
The DA would be paid in cash. It would be for government pensioners, teacher pensioners of aided and local body educational institutions and other pensioners of local bodies.
The government had to seek the Election Commission’s permission to announce a hike in DA as the model code of conduct is in force in the state ahead of the May 16 assembly election.
