The traffic police have enforced route diversion on Taramani Link Road at Velachery to facilitate foundation work for the second of the two flyovers being built by the state highways.

Vehicles going from Vela chery MRTS flyover towards SRP Tools need to take a 500m detour via Velachery Main Road, turn right on to LIC Colony Road and reconnect with the link road.

This also benefits motorists travelling towards the MRTS station as they can ply on the right side of the road.

Changes have also been enforced on the other end of Velachery Main Road as heavy vehicles are no longer permitted entry from the Guru Nanak College junction.Traffic police said heavy vehicles must take the 100ft Bypass Road to reach Velachery .

The diversion, which came into effect on Thursday, is likely to be in place for at least six months, a source said. The flyovers are being built by an Erode-based company . A representative of the firm said they had finished work on the foundation for five pillars along Taramani Link Road
