City hospitals go on strike over Aarogyasri dues
Just a day before the nation is set to celebrate Doctors’ Day , all the 80 private network empanelled Aarogyasri hospitals in Hyderabad went on strike with effect from Thursday .
Their decision comes a day after all district private network hospitals showed the doors to thousands of Aarogyasri patients following a series of failed talks the Telangana Hospitals & Nursing Homes’ Association (THANA) had with the government over non-payment of Aarogyasri dues worth Rs 250 crore since January-2016.
In the city , the decision by the 80 network hospitals in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts including a dozen odd Telangana Superspecialty Private Hospitals Association (TESHA) hospitals is set to affect as many as 8,000-10,000 out-patients and 1,000 in-patients every day .
“The government makes on ly empty assurances. This time our strike will be for indefinite period until the state government clears our pending dues worth Rs 250 crore and fulfils our other 18-point demands,“ said Dr L Suresh Goud, convenor, Aarogyasri, THANA.
He warned that if the state government does not resolve their grievances, private Aarogyasri network hospitals would exit from the scheme permanently.
