The Telangana government on Thursday announced that it was increasing the dearness allowance (DA) for its employees by 3.144 per cent.
With the finance department approving the hike, the DA for the state government employees went up from the current 15. 196 per cent to 18.34 per cent.
The hike is payable with retrospective effect from January 2016. Beneficiaries of the new DA rate include employees of panchayat raj and municipal administration bodies such as zilla parishads, mandal parishads, gram panchayats, and municipalities. It is also payable to teaching and non-teaching staff of government and aided polytechnics. The same benefit is extended to teaching and non-teaching staff on regular scale in universities including Pro Jayashankar Agriculture University and Jawharlal Nehru Technology University .
The DA has been hiked from 119 per cent to 125 per cent for teaching and non-teaching staff who are drawing UGC pay scale in universities. DA for judicial officers has gone up from 119 per cent to 125 per cent.
