KCR writes to Jaitley, seeks Rs 5k cr for Mission Kakatiya
The Telangana government on Saturday asked the Centre to release Rs 5,000 crore as financial aid to implement Mission Kakatiya programme.
In a letter to Union finance minister Arun Jaitley , chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said that the central government should assist the state with the fund to help it continue with the village tank and lake rejuvenation programme for the next three years. The chief minister also reminded the minister that Niti Ayog recommended that Telangana be given Rs 5,000 crore for Mission Kakatiya. The AP State Reorganisation Act 2014 also specifies that a special package be given to Telangana for development in backward areas of the state.
Mission Kakatiya, along with Mission Bhagiratha, are programmes designed for the development of Telangana’s backward areas and the central government should give a special package of Rs 30,571 crore as provided in the legislation when the state was formed, he said. The CM also provided Jaitley with a detailed report on Mission Kakatiya and the progress of work so far.
