Telangana judges call off strike
The Telangana Judges Association on Tuesday called off its 10-day agitation following appeals from the Chief Justice of India, acting Chief Justice of Hyderabad High Court and the governor. The Judges of lower courts and judicial employees stayed away from work protesting allotment of AP-origin judges to Telangana judicial cadre.
“We have decided to resume our duties from Wednesday ,“ a member of the association told TOI. They were seeking revocation of postings given to Andhra Pradesh-origin judges in Telangana district courts. They found several faults with the judicial cadre division among AP and Telangana. Upset with the open defiance displayed by the judges and their agitation on the streets of Hyderabad, the HC administration earlier suspended 11 judicial officers working in various Telangana district courts.
Initially, the agitating judges said they would resume duties only if their suspended colleagues are taken back but they withdrew the strike unconditionally.
