All departments in the AP secretariat in Hyderabad will be shifted to the upcoming capital city of Amaravati by August 15.
The municipal administration and urban development department (MA&UD) will be the first government wing to be shifted out of Hyderabad.
Employees working in the municipal administration and urban development department will relocate to Amaravati (Vijayawada-Guntur) by June 27, the deadline fixed by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
However, other departments will relocate in phases and the process will be completed by the Independence Day .Andhra Pradesh secretariat employees held a meeting here on Tuesday and expressed their willingness to shift to Amaravati.
The meeting comes a day after the AP government released the road map on the shifting of departments and transfer of employees. Andhra Pradesh secretariat employees’ association president U Muralikrishna said the road map had clarified all doubts lurking in the minds of the employees.
“The deadline for relocation is June 26. As and when departments find accommodation in Vijayawada or Guntur, the employees will shift out of Hyderabad. The process will be over by August 15,“ he said expressing happiness over the latest guidelines issued by the government.
As many as 20,000 employees have been directed to relocated to Amaravati as the Andhra Pradesh government decided to function out of its geographical area, though Hyderabad continues to be the common capital for another eight years.
