After numerous accidents involving pedestrians and protests, the foot over bridge (FOB) at Banjara Hills, Road No 2 is finally on its way to becoming a reality .

Following the Hyderabad High Court’s decision to vacate the stay on the FOB’s construction on Wednesday , officials of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) say that they will begin work on the FOB within the next two days. “We are planning to finish the work over the next one-and-half month,“ confirmed Suresh Kumar, chief engineer, GHMC. The anno uncement, led to students of the Muffakam Jah College of Engineering and Technology -who have been crusading for the FOB for long -heaving a sigh of relief. According to police records, the stretch is among the deadliest in the city . It has witnessed six fatal accidents, till September this year.

“The GHMC has already completed one portion of the work. It has dug up portions for the stilts to be laid. The on-site engineer told us that the structure would be ready in 45 days. Only the lift he said will take some time to be put in place,“ said Sriram Madineni, a fourth year engineering student of the college.
