Met predicts heavy rain
The weather office has alerted that a cyclone is approaching Odisha and Andhra Pradesh and will head towards Bangladesh and Myanmar coast on Friday . Heavy rainfall is expected over Gangetic Bengal on Saturday .Experts said the deep depression over west-central and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal had moved northwards and was about 200km south of Machilipatnam and 1,150km south-southwest of Kolkata. The weather office has warned Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Bengal governments to keep stocks ready for an emergency .
Experts think the cyclonic storm might intensify by Thursday and turn into a severe cyclone. The Bengal coast is not likely to be hit and chances of damage are minimum if the storm does not change track. But as it will be heading towards Bangladesh, Bengal has been asked to keep a disaster management team ready .
