Irrigation minister T Harish Rao on Wednesday urged officials to complete the pending medium irrigation project before the end of 2017.
Harish Rao was speaking at a meeting with senior officials from his department where a plan for providing irrigation for the upcoming rabi crop season was discussed. The meeting took stock of availability of water in 15 major and 36 medium irrigation projects.
The December 2017 target was for Kaleshwaram, Palamuru-Ranga Reddy , Seetharama and Dindi among some other medium-sized irrigation projects, the minister said. He also said that with copious rains this year, the government expects an uptick in crop area for the rabi season. He asked officials to quickly finalise district-wise irrigation plans for rabi and discuss the same with respective collectors.
