The AP government has decided to demand more share in the power generated by Srisailam, Nagarjunasagar and Pulichintala hydel projects.
It will write to the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), the Union ministry of water resources and the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) demanding allocation of 1512 megawatt power generated by the hydel plants.
At present, AP gets a share of 910 mw. The state government will argue its case stating that it should get 46.11 per cent of hydel power generated as its share as per the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014. Telangana’s share in hydel power is 53.89 per cent. The total hydel power generated is 3,280 mw. Of this, AP should get 1,512 mw and Telangana 1,767 mw.
However, the installed capacity of hydel power in AP is 910 mw. On the other hand, Telangana has an installed capacity of 2370 mw.AP has only two hydroelectric power projects under its control. AP officials po int out that Telangana’s share in hydel power is more than its share in water.Of the 374 tmc ft water allocated to two states, AP’s share is 264 tmc ft.
