Pranab ends suspense, signs NEET ordinance
Setting at rest the anxiety of lakhs of medical school aspirants, President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday approved the ordinance that exempts seats filled through state government-conducted medical entrance tests from the National Eligibility cum-Eentrance Test (NEET) for a year.
This means that while NEET will apply to private institutes from this year itself, state government colleges will come under the purview of the national level examination from next year. The suspense over approving the NEET ordinance ended on Tuesday shortly before Mukherjee set off for his China visit.
