The Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) on Saturday asked Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to share water in the ratio of 63:37 from the available reservoirs in Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar dams.
The KRMB task force, which met here, decided on the water sharing for September on the basis of `ayacut’ of the two states. AP will get 36 tmc ft water while Telangana will get 15 tmc feet. Though both states have asked for more water, the board reduced their share citing shortage of water in the Nagarjunasagar reservoir. AP had asked for 47 tmc ft, while Telangana submitted an indent for 39 tmc ft. The engineers-in-chief of the two states and board member-secretary Sameer Chatterjee finalised the draft sharing which will be approved by the acting chairman of the board.
