With the aim of promoting Hyderabad as a world-class destination for advanced healthcare, the Telangana tourism department is planning to set up a medical tourism society (MTS) soon. The society will act as a single-point contact between international patients and various stakeholders such as healthcare providers, travel and accommodation vendors.
The initiative was announced by B Venkatesham, secretary of tourism and culture department, while addressing the 3rd International India Medical Tourism Conference (IIMTC) in the city on Saturday .
Highlighting the need to liaise with all stakeholders involved in medical tourism, he said MTS would ensure transparency by providing international patients information about the package rates charged by hospitals for different procedures.
