Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) commissioner B Janardhan Reddy has asked the Hyderabad district administration to allot government land for constructing houses under the double bedroom (2BHK) housing scheme in the city.
The GHMC commissioner on Saturday convened a meeting with Hyderabad revenue officials on the progress of allotment of govern ment land for the housing scheme. The GHMC commissioner said the tender process would be initiated after the district administration hands over government land to them. He also asked the GHMC officials to invite tenders for the land already allotted by the Hyderabad district administration.
Hyderabad joint collector Bharati Hollikeri said, “Of 41 acre government land available at 10 land parcels in the district, five acre litigation-free land has already be en handed over to GHMC for the construction of 2BHK houses. Though government land is available at several locations, the GHMC has to discuss with defence and other government agencies to allot them for the housing scheme.“
Responding to the commissioner’s plea on allotment of 1,000 square yard government land for the purpose, she said that a list of areas where the required land was available would be submitted to the GHMC officials.
