Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly called virtual reality the next ‘computing platform’ after mobile devices multiple times in the past. This new app will help extend Facebook’s presence in virtual reality Past Oculus and open up the technology to a broad audience.
Facebook’s VP of Global Engineering and Infrastructure, jay Parikh said, “When Facebook was founded, it was primarily a text-based site – there were status posts and there were wall posts, “We’ve moved into the world where most of the world today is focused on photos. But we are quickly moving into this world where I think, in the next couple years, most of the experience on Facebook is going to be about video.”
